To my spiritual brethren in Ferstaal,

Please allow me to provide introduction for Emily Grace, a young lady of sterling character and good spirit who has been in my charge for the past eight months.

Emily came to us after a disturbing encounter in the Darquen Wood at the far reaches of Krennis where she bore witness to a barbaric ritual involving the slaughter of innocent settlers. A terror spirit was summoned, and we believe it was this that has stolen away her voice. When she came to us, she was pale, white-haired, mute, and near death. Though we have nursed her back to health, her inability to speak remains.

We have begun instruction in writing, reading, and sign - and would ask that if you are able that you please continue instructing her in such. She is very bright, and catches on with remarkable quickness. She is also a quite talented entertainer (this being her profession) - she dances and plays instruments with grace and expertise. One can only imagine what her performances were like when she could sing!

One other thing that should be known about Emily- she feels the call of the spirits, which she describes as 'the Pull'. This is not always beneficial, however- as it was such that drew her to the ritual. This gives me great cause for worry, as she is insistent on departing for Ferstaal alone.

My duties keep me here, but my heart travels with the young lady. Please write to me and let me know if you are able to continue her instructions, and let me know if you need any further information.

Spiritually yours,
Brother Julius Bennedict de Castel
Evesdown Abbey , Krennis

The document bears his personal wax seal, which is a derivative of the Krennis noble house de Castle.

My dear Emily Grace,
Your letter has reached me, and does indeed find me well. The harvest has been bountiful, and we have celebrated the changing of the seasons in our usual splendor and gratitude. Brother Artimus has painted a new portrait - this one is of the harvest fields being gathered. It hangs in the dining hall- I think that you would like it very much. I am glad that you have arrived safely in Ferstaal, and I know that you will gain the favor of the court with your performances. How could anyone who has heard you play resist hiring you? Your talent and spirit shine through.

Have you been practicing your letters and signs? I hope that by now you have located the church in Medbobd and introduced yourself. If you have not, do go straightaway. I trust you still have the letter of introduction I have written for you. That should help explain your circumstances and need for instruction and guidance.

Everyone here misses you greatly.. myself, most of all. But I do understand your need for travel, my dear Emily, and wish you all the best always. Please write again soon and tell me of your new employment.

Devotedly yours,
Julius
